A 3 port diverter valve differs from a 3 port mid-position valve.
A mid-position valve allows for heating only, hot water only or both heating and hot water at the same time, whereas a diverter valve allows for heating only or hot water only. A diverter valve does not allow for both heating and hot water at the same time as it doesn’t move to mid-position.
